Our Westchester CenterLight PACE participants enjoyed a fun-filled Senior Prom party in the Day Health Center.

A Tribute to Social Workers

In celebration of World Social Workers Day on Tuesday, our CenterLight PACE Westchester participants created a mural as a tribute to our amazing social workers. The beautiful work of art included heartfelt messages and words of thanks for the difference they make every day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Participants and staff at CenterLight's PACE center in Westchester celebrated St. Patrick's Day with style last Friday. We hope you enjoy these photos from the event. Look out for more from celebrations at our other PACE centers!

Holi: Festival of Colors

CenterLight PACE recently celebrated Holi or “Festival of Love and “Festival of Colors” at our Seneca and Flushing centers. Staff and participants enjoyed throwing colored paint powder onto a large canvas, watching dancers wearing traditional clothing, and singing and playing instruments dedicated to the spirit of the holiday. At the end of the festivities, everyone wished each other “a very colorful and joyous Holi with a life filled with the colors of joy and happiness.

Mardi Gras

It is never too late to celebrate Mardi Gras at CenterLight PACE! Our day health center was transformed into a night out on Bourbon Street, and the renowned Atomic World Jazz Band got staff and participants on their feet dancing to the music of New Orleans. If you heard the band’s explosive drumming solos and soulful music blends, you might have thought you were in the French Quarter, rather than in the heart of the Bronx.

Welcome, Spring!

Hats off to Spring as we look back at how CenterLight PACE participants celebrated Easter! Our Westchester PACE site participants crafted Easter hats and enjoyed the day's festivities!

Paint and Sip

Our CenterLight PACE Westchester center had its first "paint and sip" class with our participants -- who were sipping sparkling cider of course! The art instructor, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Michelle, displayed a painting to give the artists a framework to use as they created their own interpretation of the piece of art. This framework helped the painters with a starting point and made them feel confident to have something to follow, yet still adding their own unique elements. Here are some examples of how the participants interpreted what they saw.

Painting Fun!

Flowers make the world a prettier place! Our PACE Participants had the best time painting special pots and planting their flowers.

Pancake Party at CenterLight PACE in Flushing

Let's have a party, a pancake party! Our Therapeutic Recreational Specialists had a great time making breakfast for our participants at CenterLight Healthcare PACE Flushing Center. Our PACE participants loved their blueberry pancakes!

Second Annual Participant Recognition at Jamaica ACS

A huge part of what makes coming to Teamcare centers special are the participants who create the close-knit community alongside CenterLight staff. To honor the participants' commitment participants to creating a positive environment at the center, staff at our Jamaica ACS created the "Participant Recognition Awards" and had their second annual ceremony last week! Each participant received a trophy and certificate, and a moment in the spotlight.

CenterLight Teamcare Participant's Artwork Featured in GNYHA Calendar

Congratulations to our participant Maria whose artwork has been chosen for the SECOND YEAR in a row to be featured in the Greater New York Hospital Association calendar! Her watercolor painting, which she created at her Teamcare center, is titled "Praise." Maria loves art classes at Teamcare and views art as an outlet of personal expression. What a way to ring in 2020!

Ugly Sweater Party

Our participants and staff at the Teamcare Wallerstein center in the Bronx ushered in the holiday celebrations with an "Ugly Sweater Party." Tom from our Therapeutic Recreation department even dressed up as a nutcracker soldier to spread even more holiday cheer!

The talented participants of the Allerton art group continue to dazzle! Over the past few months, they've been working on their unique version of Van Gogh's "Vase With Red Gladioli II." Participants Dorcas and Syble are both very proud of the artwork they make at the Teamcare center!

"On Display" Exhibit

Our 99th Street Center was visited by Heidi Latsky Dance last week! The group performed their traveling work, "ON DISPLAY" which is a commentary on society's obsession with body image and propensity to stare at disabled folks and people deemed different. Participants were invited to interact with the performers as they held statuesque poses, taking control over how they were stared at. It was a very unique experience for our participants!
