Fall Paintings

Through Art Therapy, our participants are guided step-by-step through detailed paintings, and they love it! Teamcare Recreation Therapist Arianna Corretjer puts it perfectly: "At the end of it all, besides seeing these beautiful works of art, we see HUGE smiles."

Aren't these pumpkin paintings by Westchester participants beautiful?

Every October, our 99th Street Teamcare center honors participants and staff who have battled breast cancer or who have lost a loved one to the disease. The pink balloons represent those who have had breast cancer, and everyone releases them into the sky in their memory.

Horticulture Therapy at Teamcare Seneca

With the help of therapeutic recreation specialists Carol Alvarez and Yvette Chow, participants at Teamcare Seneca enjoy taking part in caring for plants and herbs throughout spring and summer. This year, pineapple sage, parsley, rosemary, Mexican tarragon, mint, lavender, sweet basil, cherry tomatoes, chives, as well as various flowers and plants are growing in the garden outside the center.

A Happy 100th Birthday

We recently celebrated a very special day for one of our Rockaway Parkway participants--Ms. Delia Jones' 100th birthday! Ms. Jones (in the green hat) was presented with a proclamation from a representative from Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams's office honoring her as one of Brooklyn's centenarians! Staff, participants, family, and friends recalled their favorite memories with Ms. Jones and told her how she has made a positive impact on their lives. It was a wonderful celebration for a remarkable woman!

Summer Painting Project

Participants in the painting group at Teamcare Allerton are currently working on a project over the course of several weeks. They all start with the same initial design but in the end, each participant will have a final product unique to them! They spend weeks working toward their final design, which is good for practicing patience and creativity over a long period of time. Great work so far!

Shopping Fun

flea market

Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Lillian Andino Vargas sets up for the 99th Street Summer Flea Market. Staff donated all the items & everyone is welcome to shop if they want!

It is a fun summer tradition for our employees, and as an added bonus, all proceeds go to making activities for our participants even more special.

Summer BBQ

Every year many of our Teamcare centers have BBQs outside, including our 99th Street location pictured below. Food, music, dancing, and spending time with great people make for a perfect summer day!

Seneca Participants Enjoy Summer Arts & Crafts

Participants at Teamcare Seneca made clothespin wreaths for a colorful Summer decoration! Nearly every participant at the center created a beautiful wreath and put their own personal spin on the design.

Westchester Participant Earns Citizenship

Pamella, one of our participants at our Westchester Teamcare center, became a US citizen earlier this year! She's pictured here with Donna, her physical therapist. Pamella said that she chose to become a US citizen because her opportunity in this country is better as a citizen. She's also proud to have the right to vote. Her family helped her through the process.

Pamella's advice for younger generations? Put God first in all they do, take care of their parents and the older generations, and forgive and love each other.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
